Love sets sail as Mr & Mrs. Smith tie the knot! A beautiful afternoon on Downtown San Diego Harbor was spent, celebrating the Marriage of this beautiful couple on the Hornblower Newport. The lovely couple chose to say “I do” in an intimate setting with close family and friends aboard a boat that toured the waters of the San Diego Bay, and what a magical day it was. There’s a quote that says, “Let your dreams set sail,” so it seemed perfectly fitting that friends and family would gather together and set sail for a wedding ceremony bringing dreams to reality!
It started off as a beautiful day at Sunset Cliffs, brilliant blue skies and luscious clouds, mighty crashing waves, golden cliffs, and a loving couple excited for a photo shoot. Little did Leeanne know, this was not any other photo shoot. This session would be the day that changed her life forever.
The session had been in the works for a few weeks by this time. We worked diligently with Steven to mastermind out every detail (the location, the timing, the set up, etc.) that would make their proposal magical. Steven and Leeanne had talked about taking photos so this session would be nothing but that, in her eyes. Steven although, had another plan. We sent many messages back and forth with Steven discussing romantic proposal set ups, that not only included on of the most resplendent viewpoints in San Diego, but a picnic set up for two overlooking the crystal blue waters. We couldn’t wait and got straight to work getting all the props ready for the big day! With fingers still thawing, I write this for you. Hoping you too will share in the experience of our recent wedding session. Let me set the scene. Towering pine trees, whisteling winds, snow coated pathways, freezing temperatures, rapid waters and a mission. A mission to capture two souls joining as one, saying “I do,” and venturing off on THEIR grand mission as Mr & Mrs. So as I sit here typing, feeling frozen, I am overcome with a warmth. I warm heart! The joy these two radiated from just pure smiles, while clinging onto each other as the winds tried to sweep them away was unfathomable.
We started our trek out to Lake Cuyamaca before hand in hopes of finding the best lighting, weather (funny looking back), and composition. To our surprise it was way colder than the forecast had predicted and the winds were surpassing 40 mph. But that wasn’t going to stop us or the couple! After having a quick car warm up, we raced out to the dock at Chambers Park. As the winds speed past and the water roared, we all held onto the hope that we would be able to withstand the battle. Boy oh boy did we not expect the amazing turnout! Like something straight from Vogue magazine. Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created. Perhaps you were born For such a time as this. -Esther 4:14 A time of blessings, a time of joy, a time of pure love! She knew that she was formed by God’s hands, dreamed up in His heart and placed in this world for a purpose.
An absolute gem of a location Old Poway Park is for any and all photography sessions! We have photographed here multiple times and cannot say enough about the location. The eminent amount of different backdrops is a dream for any photographer and family. The old country railroad feel, the tall green grass and the cute picket white fences and bridge are stunning for every photo. The trees add just enough shade for the golden sun to shine perfectly through them adding that magical touch to the already magical scenery of Poway, CA.
This year has been incredible and this Christmas gave us time to reflect and give thanks for the blessings we have. From forming our business in June of 2017 to being featured by SD Voyager and received multiple awards; along with all the amazing people we have met who helped make it all possible... We have much to be thankful for. Over this past year Gleimlight has evolved into something special, something unique and something beautiful. We owe every ounce of success to all of our amazing clients. We can not express enough gratitude to all of the families and couples we have been blessed by. We wanted to reflect and show some our work over the past year, as a way of marking the end of 2017 and the beginning of a new year. We hope you enjoyed our little look back on 2017. This is only a hand full of the amazing images we captured over the past year but I fear anymore may break this blog post! Be sure to check out our PORTFOLIO to see our best work! If you want to start the new year right with some incredible photography then be sure to drop us a line. We always look forward to meeting new clients and seeing old friends! Wishing all of our Gleimlight family members, all of our incredible clients, a very merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! Something is so catchy about that phrase... Glitz at the Ritz oh boy was there plenty of glitz at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Rancho Mirage! We were hired to capture a once in a life time experience (well for the couple!) and photograph their proposal! What a special thing to be hired to photograph! My wife and I planned it with our contact for close to a week. Planning where at the hotel would provide the best view and lighting and what the perfect time would be, what clothes the couple would be wearing etc. A lot of prep goes into lining up these types of shoots as we have to be completely ready to capture the moment. The adrenaline was pumping... This isn't like a wedding or a sporting event where we are provided with plenty of opportunities to capture the perfect moment. Instead this is a split second, literally SECONDS in which we have to capture the perfect shot. Evaluating all the technical aspects of photography, ISO, shutter, aperture, white balance, composition, framing etc. Of course we got the shot! And to boot the sunset was beyond stunning. The Christmas decorations just brought the glitz to a whole new level. Thank you Ritz Carlton for your incredible Christmas decorations and for being so accommodating to us while we captured this amazing moment. Well I have talked it up enough, take a look! It was truly a spectacular experience and one we will never forget. Thank you to the amazing couple who brought us out to Palm Springs for their Proposal Photography. We could not be more grateful for you! Popping the question?
Be sure to hire us to capture your special moment with photography and videography! We look forward to meeting new clients in exotic new places around the globe! Check out the proposals page today! Beautiful engagement photos at one of San Diego's most iconic beaches? YES PLEASE... Scipps Pier is such a great place for any photos. This engagement session was blessed with an amazing sunset. These are the kind of images you can't make up! The photos do it fair justice but you really need to experience a session with Gleimlight Photography at Scripps Pier for yourself! The amazing couple in these images hired us for their proposal several months back and returned for more incredible, artistic and stunning images. We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with them again and look forward to capturing some incredible images for them in the near future. I strongly suggest checking out Scripps Pier as one of the potential beach shoots for your next photography session. Check it out in person or get directions! Map it! It also makes a beautiful wedding Venus. One of the venues we recommend is the Scrips Forum for Science. Interesting name for a wedding venue but I promise it delivers! Check out more details and see costs here! This is one of our favorite spots in San Diego for amazing photography. The sunsets are always beautiful and the ocean waves a gorgeous teal blue. It is actually a featured location on Photographer Lifestyle, you can see it here for further information. There's more excellent info to share! Some images to showcase our work there. Keep scrolling for more great reading :) Scripps Pier in La Jolla is also a great spot for our Photography Workshops where we teach YOU photography. We love sharing what we have learned and also learning from others. Check out our workshops for an in person learning experience. On YouTube we have guides and tutorials to help you master photography and take your photos an films to an entirely new level! Interested in seeing more of our work? Check out the Portfolio!
FREE parking in San Diego?! Yea right...
We suggested the Torrey Pines State Reserve Beach. We love this location for its beautiful golden bluffs, dark blue water and incredible sunsets. There is some free parking, if you can manage to snag a spot! Otherwise you need to park in the gated parking lot at $10/car. The only major downside is they "close" the gates at sunset. They are pretty loose with this term but last thing you want is to be locked in at the beach. There is always life guards and rangers on duty so its a perfectly safe and fun place to be. If you do manage to make your way off of the beach and into the actual reserve it is absolutely beautiful and well worth the hike up from the beach.
If you are interested in learning more about Torrey Pines Beach I would suggest checking the Wikki page, LOTS of information from visitors. To inquire about having photos taken at the Torrey Pines Reserve you can see prices and services on our Investments page! Feel free to call us for further information as well, we love speaking with perspective clients!
When shooting at any location we always try to showcase the natural beauty around our models. In the case of Torrey Pines we emphasize the beauty and wonder of the golden cliffs, blue skies, heavy clouds and dark blue crashing waves. It is always so much more impact when we get to see the wonder of the natural world around us!
Thanks for the read! Be sure to share with your friends and family, we appreciate it. Enjoy the rest of the pictures below and see more on our Portfolio. Be sure to sign up for our email list found on our Contact page. We look forward to capturing incredible memories for you in the near future! Enjoy the rest of the sneak peeks and God Bless! Family is not an important thing, it's everything! Capturing life's most precious moments is what we do as San Diego Photographers, and what's more precious than family right?
