Crawling out of bed around 4 AM, powering down a pot of coffee, flinging on my work clothes and packing up my camera gear I was able to make it out of the door before 5:30 AM.
IT WAS DARK,
Almost pitch-black. With nothing but the light of my cell phone I trudged through the grasslands to find the perfect spot to setup the tripod. The sounds of the grasslands bringing an ominous feeling, only half a mile from the road it felt secluded, dew from the rain clinging to grass soaking my slacks as a stepped deeper in. I cared not for what would become of my work apparel, chasing the light was my only focus at this point. I was committed, committed to capturing one glorious moment. As the sun would soon set the sky a blaze, burning the clouds with brilliant colors.
No Compass, No Map...
Sure I am only half a mile into the grasslands, didn't really need a compass. I did, however, bring my sun map, to know exactly where I would find the sun before it even rose. Call it overkill or a fun toy for nerds, the shot speaks for itself. I found the perfect spot to capture my shot, setup the tripod and waited and watched for the sun to rise.
Then MAGIC Happened!
As the sun rose over the mountains the whole valley lit up with brilliant colors. The clouds were set ablaze and made for a magical and unforgettable moment. Chasing sunrises is what I live for, the beauty and brevity of these moments is so special. The journey of our marriage began with the breaking of dawn, knelt on one knee we made a vow to chase these beautiful moments together. It had finally happened, the dawn was broken...
I present to you, BREAKING DAWN.
