This year has been incredible and this Christmas gave us time to reflect and give thanks for the blessings we have. From forming our business in June of 2017 to being featured by SD Voyager and received multiple awards; along with all the amazing people we have met who helped make it all possible... We have much to be thankful for.
Over this past year Gleimlight has evolved into something special, something unique and something beautiful. We owe every ounce of success to all of our amazing clients. We can not express enough gratitude to all of the families and couples we have been blessed by.
We wanted to reflect and show some our work over the past year, as a way of marking the end of 2017 and the beginning of a new year.
We hope you enjoyed our little look back on 2017. This is only a hand full of the amazing images we captured over the past year but I fear anymore may break this blog post! Be sure to check out our PORTFOLIO to see our best work!
If you want to start the new year right with some incredible photography then be sure to drop us a line. We always look forward to meeting new clients and seeing old friends!
Wishing all of our Gleimlight family members, all of our incredible clients, a very merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
Something is so catchy about that phrase... Glitz at the Ritz oh boy was there plenty of glitz at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Rancho Mirage!
We were hired to capture a once in a life time experience (well for the couple!) and photograph their proposal! What a special thing to be hired to photograph! My wife and I planned it with our contact for close to a week. Planning where at the hotel would provide the best view and lighting and what the perfect time would be, what clothes the couple would be wearing etc. A lot of prep goes into lining up these types of shoots as we have to be completely ready to capture the moment.
The adrenaline was pumping...
This isn't like a wedding or a sporting event where we are provided with plenty of opportunities to capture the perfect moment. Instead this is a split second, literally SECONDS in which we have to capture the perfect shot. Evaluating all the technical aspects of photography, ISO, shutter, aperture, white balance, composition, framing etc.
Of course we got the shot!
And to boot the sunset was beyond stunning. The Christmas decorations just brought the glitz to a whole new level. Thank you Ritz Carlton for your incredible Christmas decorations and for being so accommodating to us while we captured this amazing moment.
Well I have talked it up enough, take a look! It was truly a spectacular experience and one we will never forget. Thank you to the amazing couple who brought us out to Palm Springs for their Proposal Photography. We could not be more grateful for you!
Popping the question?
Be sure to hire us to capture your special moment with photography and videography! We look forward to meeting new clients in exotic new places around the globe! Check out the proposals page today!
Beautiful engagement photos at one of San Diego's most iconic beaches?
Scipps Pier is such a great place for any photos. This engagement session was blessed with an amazing sunset. These are the kind of images you can't make up!
The photos do it fair justice but you really need to experience a session with Gleimlight Photography at Scripps Pier for yourself!
The amazing couple in these images hired us for their proposal several months back and returned for more incredible, artistic and stunning images.
We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with them again and look forward to capturing some incredible images for them in the near future.
I strongly suggest checking out Scripps Pier as one of the potential beach shoots for your next photography session. Check it out in person or get directions! Map it!
It also makes a beautiful wedding Venus. One of the venues we recommend is the Scrips Forum for Science. Interesting name for a wedding venue but I promise it delivers! Check out more details and see costs here!
This is one of our favorite spots in San Diego for amazing photography. The sunsets are always beautiful and the ocean waves a gorgeous teal blue. It is actually a featured location on Photographer Lifestyle, you can see it here for further information.
There's more excellent info to share!
Some images to showcase our work there. Keep scrolling for more great reading :)
Scripps Pier in La Jolla is also a great spot for our Photography Workshops where we teach YOU photography. We love sharing what we have learned and also learning from others.
Check out our workshops for an in person learning experience.
On YouTube we have guides and tutorials to help you master photography and take your photos an films to an entirely new level!

FREE parking in San Diego?! Yea right...
We suggested the Torrey Pines State Reserve Beach. We love this location for its beautiful golden bluffs, dark blue water and incredible sunsets. There is some free parking, if you can manage to snag a spot! Otherwise you need to park in the gated parking lot at $10/car. The only major downside is they "close" the gates at sunset. They are pretty loose with this term but last thing you want is to be locked in at the beach. There is always life guards and rangers on duty so its a perfectly safe and fun place to be. If you do manage to make your way off of the beach and into the actual reserve it is absolutely beautiful and well worth the hike up from the beach.
If you are interested in learning more about Torrey Pines Beach I would suggest checking the Wikki page, LOTS of information from visitors. To inquire about having photos taken at the Torrey Pines Reserve you can see prices and services on our Investments page! Feel free to call us for further information as well, we love speaking with perspective clients!
When shooting at any location we always try to showcase the natural beauty around our models. In the case of Torrey Pines we emphasize the beauty and wonder of the golden cliffs, blue skies, heavy clouds and dark blue crashing waves. It is always so much more impact when we get to see the wonder of the natural world around us!
Thanks for the read! Be sure to share with your friends and family, we appreciate it. Enjoy the rest of the pictures below and see more on our Portfolio. Be sure to sign up for our email list found on our Contact page. We look forward to capturing incredible memories for you in the near future! Enjoy the rest of the sneak peeks and God Bless!
Crawling out of bed around 4 AM, powering down a pot of coffee, flinging on my work clothes and packing up my camera gear I was able to make it out of the door before 5:30 AM.
IT WAS DARK,
Almost pitch-black. With nothing but the light of my cell phone I trudged through the grasslands to find the perfect spot to setup the tripod. The sounds of the grasslands bringing an ominous feeling, only half a mile from the road it felt secluded, dew from the rain clinging to grass soaking my slacks as a stepped deeper in. I cared not for what would become of my work apparel, chasing the light was my only focus at this point. I was committed, committed to capturing one glorious moment. As the sun would soon set the sky a blaze, burning the clouds with brilliant colors.
No Compass, No Map...
Sure I am only half a mile into the grasslands, didn't really need a compass. I did, however, bring my sun map, to know exactly where I would find the sun before it even rose. Call it overkill or a fun toy for nerds, the shot speaks for itself. I found the perfect spot to capture my shot, setup the tripod and waited and watched for the sun to rise.
Then MAGIC Happened!
As the sun rose over the mountains the whole valley lit up with brilliant colors. The clouds were set ablaze and made for a magical and unforgettable moment. Chasing sunrises is what I live for, the beauty and brevity of these moments is so special. The journey of our marriage began with the breaking of dawn, knelt on one knee we made a vow to chase these beautiful moments together. It had finally happened, the dawn was broken...
I present to you, BREAKING DAWN.
Hotel Del Coronado, such an incredible historic piece of San Diego.
Special thanks to this amazing family! :)
We had a wonderful family from out of town request some photos be taken at the beach. Coronado Island was a nice 1 hour drive for us but well worth it. The family was also looking for some graduation photos for their daughter so we were able to kill 2 birds with one stone and provide some amazing beach family/graduation photography.
We feel so blessed to be contacted by families from out of town, and be given the opportunity to work with them and capture some amazing shots for them.
I think we can agree that family portraits are something special...
We love working with families. They are always full of love and so much joy. It brings a remembrance that family is the most important thing in life. Beyond that they hold a special meaning to us.
Family pictures have a special place in our hearts as neither my Wife nor I had very many from our child hood. Something I wish we had as a piece of family history. So we want to make sure that you have some for your family and continue taking more!
Thanks for reading! Don't forget to follow us on your favorite social media platform and get engaged wit the community. Tell us what family photos mean to you!
Parking lots are never big enough, agreed?
We pulled into Elfin Forest, found the one available parking spot and set out to find our shoot location. Fortunately our model found a parking spot but it wasn't easy! If you plan to go to Elfin Forest try your best to arrive early as it does get packed during the cooler hours.
Walking up the trail, we veered off to a large opening in the brush where the creek and background waterfalls are clearly in view. This was it! Traditionally we see shoots at Elfin being done further up stream where people can stand on the rocks and not get wet. Photography is about taking risk, into the water I say!
We can not thank our amazing model enough for working with us on these amazing shots.
Christina and I were both waist deep in the water with our model and our poor tripod to boot! Thank goodness our tripod was sturdy or our flash would have taken a swim!
This was such a fun shoot and the results are fantastic as always. Combining natural and artificial light we were able to capture some incredible results. The shots shown above can clearly show the powerful difference of natural light photography and flash photography.
Working with my Wife is such an honor, being able to capture a completely different perspective than her allows us to capture absolutely a one of a kind gallery for our clients. I believe this is one of the key factors people fall in love with their photos. The variety and quality is our top priority. 100 of the same image is never good!
So risk is important?
Absolutely! My wife and I constantly strive to take more risk with our photography, doing so allows us to capture even more incredible images. Stagnation is the fastest way to kill photography. Art is always changing and evolving, that isn't to say the core value of it changes but the methods of which we achieve our results and improve this is constantly growing. Adapting to these new methods allows us to provide the same photographic results we all know and love but on a WHOLE new level.
If you are looking for some incredible images like these for yourself head over to our Investment page and book your session today. We look forward to working with you and taking risks to capture some incredible shots.
Wanting to see Elfin Forest?
We highly recommend you go and experience Elfin Forest. It is a beautiful retreat right in the center of San Diego County. Be sure to read up on the rules on their web page and check out the maps as there is tons of hiking on the reserve. If you are looking for a simple hike we highly suggest the creek loop, its about 2 miles or so in total and a great aerobic exorcise for a short hike.
If you are interested in learning more about photography at Elfin Forest then drop us a line through our Contact page! We always are looking for more shoots at Elfin Forest. We absolutely feel its one of the best spots in San Diego County for Photography.
Old Poway Park...
There is something so special about this place. Between the beautiful "creek" and nature trial along with the old rail cars, rail house and chapel it just makes for such a fun place to shoot photos. Candid photos always look great here. I mean how can they not?
I love the opportunity it provides from some very unique styles. You can add some grunge to your images or moody essence to really give the viewer that historic and rustic feel. Such a fun spot for photos.
We had the opportunity to work with a wonderful Mother & Son that were just full of life and brought so much joy to Christina and I. We wanted to share some of the shots with you from the session.
We loved capturing these portraits and our models were so fun to work with. We pride ourselves on keeping things natural and helping people feel beautiful (or handsome) and empowered throughout our sessions. This dynamic duo really showed the power of contrast throughout this shoot.
Looking for some portraits?
Well then your in the right place! www.gleimlight.com/investment and you can book your session, online with no hassle!
Wow... Just WOW! This family was so great to work with and there little girl is just the cutest little thing. This is why I love being a Ramona Photographer DUO with my wife. The lighting and landscapes in Ramona are just exquisite.
It was such an amazing opportunity to work with this family. Let me prepare you as the images you are about to see contain far to much cuteness!
For this first image we had the family stand in the shade of an oak tree and captured the sunset peaking through the branches. It was truly a phenomenal shot.
This shot isn't all though, KEEP SCROLLING!
Are you ready for the next one?
This little one was somewhat reluctant to smile but oh boy did she start to open up and have some fun! Her brothers were all standing behind me making funny faces and encouraging her to smile. Couldn't have asked for a better team of assistants.
I snapped the shot on the left (top for mobile) and my wife captured this amazing candid on the right (bottom on mobile). She is just the cutest thing. I love the Ramona Grasslands as the ground is just so colorful and makes for some incredible backdrops. Now the candid of this little warrior princess is just perfect. She is ready to kick some butt and take some names!
The people we get to work with being a Ramona Photographer Duo are so incredible and we are truly so blessed to have the opportunity to work with the people that we do.

How can we take advantage of EVERY moment that we have?
Well., I have started a new segment of my photography called "on the road". In this segment I will be capturing images on my drive to and from the daily grind. Being a Ramona Photographer provides me with LOTS of opportunities to capture some amazing sites.
Ready to see the first post of the segment?
The 2 images below were captured on the drive to work right off of Highland Valley Rd.
Most mornings in Ramona you can be sure there will be plenty of fog located in the south west end of Ramona around Dos Picos Park and Ramona Grasslands Preserve.
First Picture - Rain Catcher
In the first shot I initially wanted to capture a flock of crows sitting on a dead tree, only to find that when I grabbed the camera out of the bag they had all flew off. Began to walk back to the car and I noticed this cobweb on the fence acting as a rain catcher, it was truly a beautiful yet slightly eerie sight. The sun in the backdrop was just barely piercing through the fog to provide some amazing back lighting. Overall I am really happy with the results.
My favorite of the two IS...
Well pretty easy to guess as there is only 2 and I used My favorite of the two is as the header for this. You guessed it the one on the right or "Not Forgotten" is just splendid. I found this old I assume cattle shoot (couldn't confirm it) that was in shambles. The sun was blasting through the fog and illuminating only a portion of the valley. I put my lens right up to the barbed wire fence to add the barb into the shot and snapped away.
I hope you enjoyed the first 2 shots of this segment. This is going to be a mini series that I continue to do overtime. Being a Ramona Photographer I think this series is a great way to get myself out earlier, take some great shots to add to the collection. Hopefully I will inspire others out there and provide some creative insight. If you enjoy the shots below be sure to like, follow, sub, share, comment and all the other fun stuff you can do on social media.
I will also be (soon) beginning a "how I made it" segment coming to our YouTube channel in which I will demonstrate how i captured images like the ones below and edit them in post processing so make sure you sub up our YouTube channel so you can be apart of it!
Till next time!
